How X-POS stores Product and Customer data in your browser

To be able to give a speedy response, and to handle offline periods, the X-POS is using the browsers local storage to store data on products and customers.

The data is stored in a socalled jStorage which is handled by the browser. The jStorage will default store the following fields:
  • Product Data: id, name, type, price, tax, SKU, image url, quantity, and any search fields selected by user
  • Customer Data: first- and lastname, customer group, email, phone, and shipping and billing address
jStorage Data
The data saved into the localstorage can be modified through the configuration in X-POS. For example, if "Enable Local Searching" is "Disabled", then searches will be made online, and the Customer Data will not be loaded to the localstorage. The Product data is still loaded due to maintaining a speedy interface, but it will allow the searches to be done for newly changed names and search terms in the Magento backend.

The product data loaded can be modified by selecting the fields used for search in the X-POS configuration. Note that the more fields you load, the slower the search, and the less data can be stored in X-POS. By default jStorage has a limitation of around 5 MB depending on browser. If you add large text attribute fields to the search it can impact if all your products can be loaded - and thereby if the X-POS will work correctly.
